Sozobal competition makes K1 mill

The Sozobal tournament held over the weekend at College of Medicine in BT raised over K1 mill.

The contest, which was held in conjunction with Corporate Social Basketball, initially aimed to raise 750K for a set of electronic scoreboard/shot-clocks for Sozobal.

Lead organiser  Limbani Yatina said the tournament, which attracted 17 teams from Sozobal, Central Zone Basketball League (Cezobal) and corporate sides, was a success.

“We raised funds mainly through team participation fees. We also raised additional funds through individual contributions. In general, we raised around K1 million from the tournament. All in all, the tournament has been a success as we have raised funds we needed to buy the set of electronic scoreboard/ shotclocks for Sozobal,” he said.

Yatina said CDH Investment Bank (CDHIB), after being swayed by the initiative, donated K1, 357, 225.00.
